2008 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 unveiled in Geneva

Look, who's coming! The Italian brand has decided to unveil its new Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 supercar at the motor show in Geneva. Equipped with a 4WD Viscous Traction system mated to a powerful 5.2-liter V10 engine, the vehicle is the first real competitor to the last year's Ferrari F430 Scuderia street-legal race car.
The engine, Lamborghini is reporting in its press release, develops 560 hp available at a pretty much impressive 8000rpm, and churns out 540Nm of torque. So the LP560-4's 3.7 seconds of zero to 62 mph acceleration time doesn't look surprising at all. It reaches 125 mph (200 km/h) in 11.8 seconds and stops accelerating at 202 mph (325 km/h).
The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 will be shipped with Pirelli Pzero 235/35 ZR 19 -- 295/30 ZR 19 front and rear tires, strong and lightweight aluminum double wishbones, standard Brembo brakes and 90-liter fuel tank.
Inside this low-flying jet-fighter you'll find an advanced multimedia entertainment system with USB connectivity and Bluetooth, LED daytime running lights and a TV tuner, although one might wonder, who needs a TV set in a car like this.

2008 Lamborghini Reventón

By Matthias Pfannmüller
Remember the recent Pininfarina Ferrari P4/5 and Maserati GS Zagato? Well, Lamborghini is now building a specialty car of its own: the Reventón, a limited-edition version to be sold to 20 lucky customers as a designer piece.
Deciding not to wait until a coachbuilder picks up a Murciélago to convert it into something different, Lamborghini decided it could do the job better and started work on project code LP640/2, aka the M.O.A., which stands for "Meanest of All." Spokesman Dominik Hoberg said the designation was decided on because the car is expected to have "at least" 650 bhp. However, we now know the final name of the car to be the 2008 Lamborghini Reventón.
We all agree that the look is stunning. All body parts are new, except for the windshield. Edgy, metallic-gray carbon panels form an extreme appearance inspired by modern aircraft design. The Reventón sports LED lighting front and rear, an all-new fuel inlet and black alloy wheels topped with carbon blades.
True to stock dimensions, the Reventón was designed in-house by Centro Stile Lamborghini and "embodies a compression of the brand's DNA," as CEO Stephan Winkelmann points out. Underneath, the Reventón is all Murciélago with a 6.5-liter V-12 drivetrain.
The interior is as special as the exterior. Instead of the stock instrumentation, you'll find functional 3D displays including a g-force meter. By pressing a button, instruments can be changed to a classic analog readout.
The 20 slated for production next spring carry a price tag of €1 million. Eleven cars are destined for the U.S.

2007 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 - Auto Shows

In case the Lamborghini Murcielago is too slow and subtle for you, the LP640 has bigger spoilers and 640 hp from its 6.5-liter V-12 — 60 hp up on plain Murcielagos.
BY RAY HUTTON, PHOTOGRAPHY BY MIKE VALENTE
The appearance of the Lamborghini Gallardo at the 2003 Geneva show threatened the raison d'être of the Murcielago, which had been launched two years prior. The smaller, lighter car was virtually as quick as its big brother, if not quite as extroverted. The obvious next move was to make the Murcielago even faster and wilder, and thus was born the Murcielago LP640.
As though the top Lambo wasn't already fast enough, Lamborghini enlarged the V12 from 6.2 to 6.5 liters for a bump in power from 580 to 640 hp. In case you're worried about the Cribs crew thinking that you're driving last year's Lamborghini, the LP640 stands out with revised front and rear treatments and new wheels. And if you are the sort who believes that too much is never enough, you can order your LP640 with a transparent engine cover. The result of these tweaks is improved performance — the 0-62 mph time of 3.4 seconds is nearly half a second faster than pedestrian Murcielagos. Significantly for Lamborghini parent Volkswagen, the LP640 is quicker and more powerful than the Mercedes SLR McLaren and the Porsche Carrera GT. One of the only European cars that's faster is the million-dollar Bugatti Veyron, which is also a Volkswagen product.
Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder

The Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder was launched at Frankfurt Motor Show in Autumn 2005, creating the marques fourth model in its super car range, with delivery to customers in the UK from Spring 2006.
The Gallardo Spyder is not just an open-top version of the coupé, but a completely new model. Developed via a close partnership between the Lamborghini Centro Stile and R and D engineers, it continues the Lamborghini design attributes of purism, athleticism and sharpness, whilst evoking a strong aeronautical influence in its proportions. The cab-forward cockpit is integrated in the body by a strongly-slanted front screen and tensed pillars.
The Gallardo Spyder includes a unique system for opening and closing the fabric roof. The raising/lowering mechanism is extremely simple to operate, by way of two push-buttons on the centre of the dashboard, with the whole operation taking just over 20 seconds.
An electronic control system, integrated in the cars CAN-BUS network, controls movement of the roof. The engine compartment is utilised to store the folded roof, covered by the carbon fibre engine bonnet that also functions as a hood cover. Electric actuators lock the catch at the front of the hood and release the bonnet catch, and a separate motor raises and lowers the rear window.
The rear screen moves automatically while the roof is being opened or closed. This automatically-controlled movement always returns the screen to the raised position. The driver can choose to have the screen in the lowered position (including when the roof is raised) by pressing the appropriate button on the dashboard. A service function positions the roof to allow access to the engine.
Great care has been taken over the structural design of the new Gallardo Spyder which, of course, complies fully with all the relevant safety standards. The space frame has been reinforced in the area of the sills and the A pillars have been strengthened with the adoption of an automatic roll-over protection system (comprising two pop-ups) integrated with the air bag system. Like other models in the range, the Gallardo Spyder also benefits from aluminium bodywork and features permanent four-wheel drive.
The Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder features a number of important modifications to the original Gallardo Coupés engine and transmission system. The 10-cylinder 4961cc propulsion unit now develops 520hp (382 kW) at 8,000rpm. The six-speed gearbox creates a more dynamic performance with lower ratios: first gear is 27% lower, second gear is 13%. Third, fourth and fifth gears are all 6% lower, while sixth gear is 3.5% lower. The steering is also more direct and precise and the suspension has been recalibrated.
Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster

Presented as a concept car in 2003 in Detroit, where it generated significant interest among Italian supercar enthusiasts, the production version of the Murciélago Roadster made its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2004. Sales of the roadster commenced at the end of 2004.
Taking its inspiration from the great Italian tradition of open vehicles, the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster is as powerful, fast and extreme as the coupé version from which it derives. Thanks to accurate design, the open version also delivers excellent handling, acceleration and driving safety characteristics without compromising the performance expected from a real Lamborghini. The Murciélago Roadster thus carries on Lamborghinis twelve cylinder roadster tradition: from the 350 GTS to the Miura Roadster, right up to the most recent Diablo Roadster.
As with the coupé, the design of the Murciélago Roadster is exclusive, aggressive and extreme. In creating the Roadster, designer Luc Donckerwolke did not restrict himself to cutting off the roof of the coupé, but bestowed it with its own sensational appearance, making the Murciélago Roadster a truly unique model which, in series production, has retained all the emotional impact of the initial concept itself.
The exterior design is characterised by a true muscularity that interacts with aggressive lines. The aggressive, exclusive and extreme themes are also reflected in the interior design, with streamlined headrests that perfectly integrate mobile air vents and asymmetrical leather upholstery. This enhances the whole drivers part of the cockpit. The front and lateral glass parts have been designed like a crash helmet visor, in order to integrate perfectly with the structure of the vehicle. In order not to alter the aesthetics of the car, the electronically controlled safety roll bars are automatic, extending only when necessary. As a result, optimum vehicle aerodynamics are maintained.
The new wheels are also in harmony with traditional Lamborghini design, with round holes that intersect the spokes. There is easy access to the bonnet, which is opened at the front as in the legendary Miura. Finally, the exhausts are also new, with a more aggressive section than the coupé.
Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder is top Gear's 'dream car of the year

The Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder has been awarded the title of ‘Top Gear Dream Car of the Year’ for 2006.
The V10, 520 bhp convertible was voted into the dream car category’s first place by a team of judges from Top Gear TV and magazine, including Jeremy Clarkson, James May, Richard Hammond and magazine editor Michael Harvey. The award was officially presented to Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann, at a glittering Top Gear ceremony in London.
A Gallardo Spyder graces the covers of the latest edition of Top Gear magazine alongside other category winners, after the 195 mph super car joined the winners’ line-up on a photo shoot in Mumbai. The magazine includes a review of the Spyder by Emma Parker-Bowles and Bollywood film star Akshay Kumar, with Jeremy Clarkson commenting, “… we telly boys think the best, most fun car to emerge all year was Lambo’s new soft-top.”
Lamborghini announces record year

Automobili Lamborghini has announced its official sales figures and another annual sales record for 2006, at the Detroit Motor Show.
In the last twelve months the House of Sant’ Agata Bolognese has built and sold 2087 cars, which represents a growth of 30.4% compared to the previous year (1600 cars). This is the highest total ever achieved in Lamborghini’s history.
In Europe, sales rose to 746 units, a growth of 50%. In the UK 151 cars were delivered.
“2006 was an exceptional year. This success is due to the Lamborghini dealer network and our products,” said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
The worldwide dealer network has been strengthened, developing from 65 dealers in 2005 to 100 dealers by the end of 2006. The four official UK dealerships are located in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh.
The Lamborghini product line was expanded with more new models introduced in 2006 than in any other year of the company’s history.
The Gallardo Spyder was launched to the markets in early 2006, while the extreme Murciélago LP640 Coupé was introduced in summer 2006. The new Murciélago LP640 Roadster was presented in November 2006 and will be launched to market in early spring 2007.
Lamborghini honoured with postage stamp

Lamborghini has celebrated the issuing by the Italian Post Office (Poste Italiane) of a postage stamp dedicated to the Lamborghini Miura. The €0,85 stamp features a reproduction of the distinctive Sant’ Agata Bolognese mark: the raging bull on a black background.
The stamp, as well as a limited number of ‘first day covers’ can be purchased only from Italian post offices. The first day cover includes a booklet introducing the stamp and the legendary Lamborghini story, signed by President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann.
The Lamborghini stamp belongs to the ‘Made In Italy’ series with an anticipated production of around 3,500,000 stamps.

The new Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera
![]()
The Gallardo Superleggera is launched at the 2007 Geneva motor show. Thanks to increased power (an additional 10 hp) and a 100 kg reduction in weight, the new range-leading Gallardo Superleggera is even more dynamic than the already very sporty Gallardo. The weight/power ratio of the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is only 2.5 kg/hp, putting it in the top lightweights of its class.
The Superleggera also has the fastest acceleration in its class. It needs only 3.8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph); 0.2 seconds less than the basic model, and boasting speed and grit under various driving conditions.
The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is an extremely high-performance car: it includes a standard robotized mechanical e-gear gearbox that guarantees shifting without removing hands from the steering wheel. The new Gallardo Superleggera can be ordered through the dealer network starting March 2007: production volumes will be restricted to lower numbers than the standard Gallardo.
Lamborghini engineers decreased the Lamborghini Gallardo’s already low weight when empty (1,430 kg) by another 100 kg using advanced materials and technologies. The engine hood is made of visible carbon fibre and transparent polycarbonate, a type of material that guarantees lightness and also shows off the magnificent V10. The rear diffuser and underbody covering, the rearview mirrors, door panels and the central tunnel’s covering are also made of carbon fibre. Further reductions in weight were achieved by replacing certain glass surfaces with transparent polycarbonate. For the interior, monocoque carbon fibre sports seats covered in Alcantara® were chosen to ensure restraint of the driver and passenger during the intense lateral accelerations that the Gallardo Superleggera is capable of achieving around curves.
A comprehensive specification and extensive range of options will be available, with some exclusive to the Superleggera. The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera comes with robotized mechanical e-gear as standard; a sports package including shock absorbers; and special suede-covered steering wheel. The car is available in four colors: Midas Yellow, Borealis Orange, Telesto Gray and Noctis Black. Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires (standard) on new Scorpius forged rims accentuate the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera.
