Want to know more about Hennessey's new ambitious Venom GT concept car? Here is some additional info and a couple of more sketches from the Hennessey Performance Engineering.
OK, what do we have here? The bad news is that the Hennessey Venom GT, the potential Bugatti Veyron slayer, still looks more like Lotus Elise on steroids. The good news is that the car will probably be a really good performer on the road, making the revered Bugatti look like a kid's toy.
Consider this. The Hennessey Venom GT concept will sport a retractable rear spoiler, huge air extractor vents behind the front wheels, and a carbon fiber rear diffuser. The latter must be a real thing, since Hennessey's designers decided to get the exhaust tips away from the stream of air flowing from underneath the diffuser and put it right between the tail-lights, giving the car even more extreme appearance.
I hope the car will soon make it to the road.

Hennessey Venom GT Concept: a wannabe Veyron killer

Houston-based Hennessey Performance Engineering has finally revealed the first sketch of its upcoming performance concept car. Called Venom GT, the concept will house a powerful Venom 1000 Twin Turbo Viper V10 powerplant inside its light weight mid-engine chassis. The American company plans to make the Venom GT a decent competitor to VW's ultra-expensive Bugatti Veyron sports car.
The company promises that, being 1500 lbs lighter than the Bugatti Veyron, the Venom GT will feature a stunning 2.7 lbs per bhp power to weight ratio and will be capable of accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds or even less. It will reach 300km/h in 14 seconds if Hennessey's estimates are correct.
Hennessey plans to build just a pair of Venom GT concepts to be shown to potential customers sometime in 2009. If the concept gets the positive publicity, the model will go into a limited production.

Bugatti Veyron Targa may see the light in 2008

Bugatti seems to be working on a Targa semi-convertible version of its EB16.4 Veyron super-coupe. The vehicle's glass roof will be designed by German Webasto company, which has engineered VW Eos' folding hardtop.
Inside Line reports, that, unlike VW Eos or the Ferrari Enzo Targa, Veyron Targa will lack the ability to stow its roof on board: there is simply no space for it behind the seats, so future owners will have to leave the roof in a garage. Therefore, Bugatti plans to equip the Targa with a piece of canvas, which will protect the car's inhabitants against rain or sunshine.
To compensate for added weight, the Veyron Targa will receive carbon-fiber doors and hood. Of course, there will be some other slight modifications to the car's appearance, such as restyled grille and new headlights that can swivel synchronously with the front wheels.
Because of a heightened aerodynamic drag of the vehicle, EB16.4 Veyron Targa's top speed will be lowered by some 35 to 217 mph, but it will still be the fastest open-top on Earth.

Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang: pure aluminum and carbon
The new Bugatti EB Veyron 16.4 Pur Sang is an extremely exclusive edition of the fastest street-legal car in the world. Being limited to only five units, the cars will be presented with no paint whatsoever: just polished aluminum body and carbon fiber parts.
Well, the car may be not looking that good in the real world, but the lack of paint allowed for saving about 100 kg of dead weight, decreasing it to 1,888kg. The Veyron Pur Sang is still one of the heaviest sports cars on the market, although having 1,001 horsepower in its 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 stable, it doesn't have too much to worry about the extra fat.
There is still no info about the price, but if your name is not Bill Gates or Steve Ballmer, you have nothing to worry about, too.
